As of August 2019, Chilean pork exports have grown by 10% when compared to the same period in 2018, and a 15% growth is expected for 2019 when compared to the previous year, considering that 2018 was already quite positive for the Chilean meat industry, with exports surpassing one billion USD. Pork accounted for 52% of exports, becoming the most exported meat (520 million USD), and positioning the meat industry as Chile’s fourth food exporting sector.

Currently, 70% of the country’s production is exported, positioning Chile as one of the five main pork exporters worldwide. Global demand for meat continues to grow, driven by China, and Chile’s trade agreements and health condition allow its exporters to reach over 60 markets around the world with healthy and safe products.
